FISHER Stories with Dave Wiley

Dave Wiley is the Technical Service Manager at Fisher Engineering and has been with the brand since 2009. But his roots in Maine go far deeper. He’s the 7th generation to live on his family’s property in Warren, and holds a special perspective on life, loss, and what it means to build a legacy. In this debut episode of FISHER Stories, we join Dave and his restored 1953 Willy’s Jeep to uncover the person behind the plow.

The passions for family, community, and legacy shine through as he talks about his history in Maine. Maine has three seasons: summer, winter, and mud season. Being outdoors is a big part of living in Maine, to get around on the property Dave and his dad fixed up a 1953 Willy’s Jeep with a FISHER plow on the front. This Jeep means a lot to the family, he learned from his dad and is now working on the Jeep with his son. This was the same Jeep that Dean Fisher designed the first snowplow for in 1948 because they were so prevalent after WWII.

You don’t plan to build a legacy, you just decide to get up and work hard, do the right thing, treat people well, and do your best. After a while, this becomes who you are. In Maine, the mindset is to buy something that will last and invest in things that will be around for a while. Driving around the area you will see FISHER plows of all sorts and sizes from all different time periods. These products are built well and made to last. Manufactured in Rockland, Maine where everyone kind of knows somebody who had a part in putting that plow together.

FISHER builds plows for the people that sit behind them. Dave is proud to be part of the FISHER legacy, watch below to see his full story.
